Sustainability at the Heart of Everything We Do
At Jeans Manufacturing Co. Ltd., sustainability is not a marketing statement — it is a core operating principle that guides every decision we make, from the factory floor to our supply chain. For over 45 years, we have been building a business that respects people, protects the environment and delivers quality that lasts.
Our four group facilities — JMCL, Carlos Leather Fashions, 3R&Z Printing and Jeans Manufacturing Washing — operate under a shared sustainability framework that addresses environmental impact, worker welfare, responsible sourcing and continuous improvement. We believe that sustainable manufacturing is not a cost — it is a competitive advantage and a responsibility to future generations.
Three Pillars of Sustainable Manufacturing
Environment
We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint across all four facilities — minimising water consumption, cutting energy use, eliminating hazardous chemicals and investing in eco-certified wash technology. Our washing unit operates with water recycling systems and sustainable finishing processes that significantly reduce resource consumption compared to conventional garment manufacturing.
People
Our 3,000+ dedicated employees are at the centre of our business. We maintain safe, dignified and fair working conditions across all facilities, with regular training programmes, worker welfare initiatives and full compliance with Bangladesh Labour Law. We do not tolerate child labour, forced labour or discrimination of any kind. Our people are our greatest asset.
Compliance
JMCL holds over 10 internationally recognised certifications that validate our commitment to quality, ethical sourcing, environmental standards and social compliance. We conduct regular internal and third-party audits across all facilities and proactively engage with our buyers' compliance requirements — making us a trusted partner for brands operating in the EU, UK, USA and Asia.
Our Sustainability Commitments
Water Conservation
Our Jeans Manufacturing Washing unit is equipped with state-of-the-art water recycling and treatment systems. We continuously invest in technologies that reduce water consumption in dyeing, washing and finishing processes, targeting best-in-class litres-per-garment benchmarks.
Chemical Management
We operate under strict chemical management protocols aligned with ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) guidelines. Only approved, low-impact dyes and finishing chemicals are used across our facilities, and all wastewater is properly treated before discharge.
Worker Welfare
We provide fair wages above the minimum legal requirement, safe and clean working environments, healthcare access, maternity provisions and regular skills development training. We conduct annual worker satisfaction surveys and act on their findings to continuously improve conditions.
Energy Efficiency
We are actively working to reduce energy intensity across our four production facilities through equipment upgrades, LED lighting transitions, energy monitoring systems and process optimisation. Our goal is to progressively reduce our carbon footprint relative to garments produced.
Waste Reduction
Fabric offcuts, trims and packaging waste are systematically collected, sorted and directed to recycling partners or repurposing channels. We are working towards a zero-landfill target across all facilities by improving material efficiency at the cutting stage and implementing waste segregation at source.
Responsible Sourcing
We work exclusively with approved fabric mills, trim suppliers and chemical providers who meet our sustainability and compliance standards. Our procurement team conducts regular supplier assessments to ensure that our supply chain reflects the same values we hold within our own operations.
